Did you just buy a new wireless device? A new laptop? A new Ipad, tablet or smartphone? And you dont know the wireless key that you are going to use to connect that device? Before calling your ISP (Internet Service Provider) What if the router is not supplied by them? Of course they would not know of what your wireless key is. What if the router is no longer in warranty? Your router company will have to charge you to be able to give you assistance…There is a way! There should be at least a Windows computer that is connected wireless. To do this, first you have to click the small computer icon at the bottom right of the computer screen as shown.
click on the computer icon and you will see the network and sharing center, click it and it will open another window
click the change adapter on the upper left panel of this window then you will wireless network connection, do a right click and you will see Status.
eft click Status then click wireless properties
then you will see the name of the network or SSID click the security tab then tick the check box for show characters.
When you are done copying the network security key ( copy as it is since it is case sensitive) click off the check then you may click ok or cancel then close all the opened windows since we didnt do any change at all and you are good to go and ready to connect your wireless device. Hope this helps folks!
